Lion's Gate isn't a Portal it's a Hoax
Preserving the integrity of astrology and ancient lineages.
Happy 8/8, Sistars! Or not…
If you spend any time at all on social media or in online spiritual communities, you’ve heard about the Lion’s Gate Portal: a window of cosmic activations in which the Sun will be aligned with the star Sirius on the numerologically significant day of August 8th.
Where did this tradition come from and is it actually energetically auspicious?
The Lion’s Gate Portal appears to be a New Age phenomenon originating from a 1998 report by Raymond Mardyks1 in which interpretations were made of the cosmic events of the time, including an August 8th Lunar Eclipse, and an August 21st Solar Eclipse conjunct the star, Regulus, which allegedly cast a shadow between the paws of the Great Sphinx of Giza.
The rising of the star Sirius, for the area around Stonehenge, also occurs near the time of the solar eclipse on August 21-22, 1998… Remember that England, the location for all of these sites, is symbolizes(sic) by a lion. Is there a direct connection between the Sphinx and the sacred sites in southern England?
The rising of the star Sirius occurs on different days for different locations on the Earth. Most of the "seedings" from Sirius occur during July and August every year. Ancient Egyptian culture was very much attuned to the cycles, energy and movement of the star Sirius. During ancient Egyptian times, the stars of the Lion and Sirius both rose together. The rising of Sirius was the event that initiated their New Year. What does the Earth receive from the star Sirius every year? – “Keys Under The Sphinx” by Ray Mardyks
This original report never included the term “Lion’s Gate” and didn’t involve a Sirius conjunction. Instead, it inferred that a unique activation was occurring during the entire Summer Eclipse Season of 1998, with a particular emphasis on the Solar Eclipse occurring at the end of August.
Contemporary claims regarding the Lion’s Gate Portal hinge on the supposed alignment of Sirius and the Sun. This claim is factually incorrect since Sirius is a fixed star that remains at 14° in the sign of Cancer (Gemini in Sidereel). Therefore, the Sun conjoins this star, forming what is sometimes called a Cazimi, in the month of July.
Didn’t Ancient Egypt celebrate Sirius?
There is usually a lot of mysticism and lore about Sirius (and his binary parter Sirius B) concerning the ancient Egyptians and the Dogon People of Africa, that ultimately circulates through internet memes and social media influencers.
Although there seems to be a connection between Sirius and Egyptian calendar keeping, I have not yet found evidence that it was regarded as a time of cosmic activation. Esoteric knowledge concerning the Sirius star system as a whole is possibly more closely connected to the Dogon People, rather than Egypt.2
Providing clarity on these histories is beyond the scope of my knowledge at this time, however I encourage everyone who considers themselves a mystic to turn to the wisdom keepers of these lineages and practice diligence when researching these topics instead of spreading regurgitated New Age fantasies.
What about the numerology?
Some people are really turned on by numbers. I get it. We all feel giddy when we look at the clock and see 11:11. However, assigning significance to 8/8 based on the date alone theoretically means that it’s just as special as celebrating 5/5 or 6/6 or 7/7 (which you can certainly do if you feel called).
This practice doesn’t feel particularly relevant to me considering these dates are based on the Gregorian Calendar which has completely dislocated us from the true 13 mo(o)nths of the year and the appropriate astrological seasons that accompany them.
Additionally, 8/8 might look nice on the calendar—or your event promo—but it won’t necessarily be accompanied by planetary alignments that are favorable in any way.
Why does it matter?
It might seem like a trivial thing to pick at, but with the prevalence and rise of New Age spirituality in the virtual age, I truly believe maintaining the integrity of ancient scientific technologies such as astrology, and lineages such as the Dogon Tribe, is vital to their preservation.
Without integrity, the fabric wears, the history is rewritten, and humanity begins to lose touch with its proper connection to God(dess) as they appear in all things, natural and cosmic.

Learned something new today! Thank you for this and the reminder to practice discernment and seek out original sources.
“Without integrity, the fabric wears, the history is rewritten, and humanity begins to lose touch with its proper connection to God(dess) as they appear in all things, natural and cosmic.” So true!
THIS. Just another woke new age "thing" to use for superiority over common folk I think. Hilarious that all the sudden the gregorian calender means something when they usually talk terribly about it in the name of the 13 month matriarchal calender. Stunning research done by you by the way. I hope so many people see this. ❤️❤️👏
