Popping prenatals is one of the first steps women immersed in popular medicine—and even the wellness industry—are implored to take for their preconception and prenatal care. There is a harsh underlying message that the body simply can’t provide what it needs without them and there’s always a “good reason” at the ready to support this—“The soil is depleted!” “There’s more stress than ever before!” “Everything is toxic!”
I’m going to lay out some reasons why I think all women should reconsider their relationship with prenatal vitamins (specifically, although this can apply to all supplements) and some first steps we can take to reconnecting with our nourishment.
